i have connected an external hard disk ( usb2 - format mac os journaled ) after the power on i can read/write on it, but when i resume to work after the screen saver i can read only and when i try to write i receive the error code -50

I too get this error message (error code -50) when trying to copy files to my external hard drive (RAID Mirror Drive). It seems that I have access rights issues since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. When I open files on the external drive, they open as read only. I then can't save any files to the drive.
