cannot restore my iphone 4s

Hi all ,

Hope someone can help , I changed my passcode on my 4s earlier today , and for the life of me i cannot remember it , i have tried to restore my phone but i get a message in itunes saying it cannot contact the iphone software update server!!! i read else where that i can take it to another pc and restore it as a new device , i tried that and i was unseccessful as itunes said i need to put my passcode in first , so now i am really stumped , its not stolen my phone and i do have my laptop with my iphone backed up on , but for some reason i get the cannot contact update software server? Any ideas??
