Try to connect Thinkpad x220 to imac 27 (mid-2011) thru Atlona AT-DP400 but fail.

Anyone please advice ? Thanks in advance.

The router may have some ports blocked. Try connecting directly to the computer via ethernet. Follow one of these directions:

If neither works, I'll ask a moderator move your thread to the Windows compatibility forum where someone is more likely to be able to help.

I want to treat my new iMAC 27" as external monitor for my Thinkpad X220 Laptop using Atlona's converter but no success.

The new iMac 27" requires a Thunderbolt compatible adapter. Not all DisplayPort adapters are compatible. This review may point to the source of your problems. What you want is something that works with Target Display Mode on Thunderbolt. If you can't find that, your alternative is VNC, or Microsoft Remote Desktop.
