Burner Issues on my Macbook Pro

about 1 week ago, i was able to burn a dvd file (video_TS folder with contents) using toast titanum. 2 days ago, i was able to burn a cd using itunes. today, my burner is giving me the following error while trying to burn a similar dvd file (video_TS folder with contents):

The drive reported an error:

Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR

Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03

i'm using mac osx 10.6.8

my dvd burner is matshita dvd-r uj-898

before writing this i checked my system for updates and installed 2 files that didn't solve this issue.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Run the hardware test - Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test

Post the results of the test.

Try using a drive cleaner and try the suggestions mentioned in the article - Apple Portables: Troubleshooting the slot load optical disc drive

thanks for the quick reply CMCSK. whilst waiting, i used a can of compressed air on my dvd drive slot and it seems to have rectified the problem. i will however keep this page bookmarked to follow your advice if a similar issue arises.
