Sony DCR-DVD92 DVD import with Ilife06

I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 Camcorder with no USB or Firewire output. This camcorder records directly on a DVD (DVD-RW) which can be played directly on a Home DVD player.

Is it possible to import the content of the DVD with Ilife'06 ?

Due to the price of the software, I'd rather be sure before buying it.

Thanks in advance,

Vlad

It is possible but it is not easy. You have to convert the video form MPEG2 (on your DVD) to DV or another format for iMovie, and then re-convert to MPEG2 to burn with iDVD. This will double your compression losses too.

DVD camcorders usllay have limited editng options for this reason, even on PCs. PCs do offer a few programs with limited editing for DVD camcorders.

IMHO, these camcorders are perfect for people that do not want to edit thier movies.....but if you do want to edit and customize Videos & DVDs, get a DV, HDV or MPEG4 camcorder......
