iA writer and iBook author
Can I import copy from iA writer to iBook author without to much faffing about?

The only supported import options are Word and Pages, AFAIK.
You can of course copy paste text via the clipboard.

I've been using iA Writer - to create my copy - then I copy and paste the file or section right into iBooks Author and it works perfectly - good luck !
