Why wont iCloud let me log in... wants me to try again later?

Hi everyone,

iCloud wont let me log in telling me I cannot log in at this time and to please try later.

I have never setup or logged into iCloud before.

I am logging in with my correct apple id and password (which i had to use to get into these forums, so I know it is correct).

And on my Macbook Pro which is runing on the latest version of OS X 10.7.3

I have also completely uninstalled itunes and its plists and reinstalled it (with the help of an apple technician so I know I havent done anything wrong)

But nothing seems to make a difference. Nmatter how much 'later' i wait (2 weeks!).

Thank you for your advice and time!

Jeremy

I am experiencing something similar to what Jeremy is describing.

I have never used iCloud and want to set it up, but I can't. When entering my Apple ID and password in System Preferences -> iCloud i get "Unable to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud." My ID and password is entered correctly.

If I try to click the "Create an Apple ID" link i get "You can't create an Apple ID at this time. Wait a moment and then try again."

Loggin on to icloud.com is not an option as iCloud has to be set up on a device before you can log in (and not being able to set it up is the problem) - I don't own an iPhone, iPod, or iPad so I can't even try on another device.

As Jeremy im on a MacBook Pro running 10.7.3.

Anyone has the same experience? Or a possible answer?

Thanks in advance

Morten

I am having the same sign in problem, with my Mac Air 10.7.3. I think it is some kind of configuration problem as I also have a Mac Pro, iPhone and iPad, all of which are working fine with iCloud, and have been for a while. The Mac Air is a brand new install of Lion, so I really am lost as to what the problem is, but if I find it I will let you know.

I have figured out a way to log in if this happens again. You will need to do the following in Safari.

Safari

User uploaded file

>Preferences>

User uploaded file

Privacy>View Details

User uploaded file

>Search for iCloud.com

User uploaded file

>Click & Remove

User uploaded file

>Done

>Reset Safari:

To Reset Safari without closing ALL window

  1. Choose Safari > Reset Safari.
  2. Deselect ( Uncheck the box)>the box that says: "CLOSE all Safari windows": If you close all Safari windows, we will restart Safari.

3. Click Reset.

4. Then go back Choose Safari > Empty Cache.

Log in at iCloud.com once again. Hope this helps. 🙂

I am having the same problem - when I try to set up Icloud on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.7.3) after changing my password I get the following "Unable to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud."

I have cleared all Cache and history from both Safari and Firefox and still I get the message.

I can assess the www.icloud.com via any browser so apple ID and passwords are correct.

The problem is when I try to set up Icloud on

Has anyone got any further suggestions?

John
