iCloud wont let me log in telling me I cannot log in at this time and to please try later.
Where can't you log in? In the iCloud system preferences pane, or at the icloud.com website?
I have never setup or logged into iCloud before.
Have you followed these setup instructions: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html

Thank you Julian for replying.
I followed the same instructions and have been trying to login via the iCloud portal login page from my system preferences. If there is another way to login, I havent yet found it. Thanks.

You can log in at http://www.icloud.com/ to access your account on the web. Maybe it will give you an indication as to why its not working if you try it?

I am experiencing something similar to what Jeremy is describing.
I have never used iCloud and want to set it up, but I can't. When entering my Apple ID and password in System Preferences -> iCloud i get "Unable to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud." My ID and password is entered correctly.
If I try to click the "Create an Apple ID" link i get "You can't create an Apple ID at this time. Wait a moment and then try again."
Loggin on to icloud.com is not an option as iCloud has to be set up on a device before you can log in (and not being able to set it up is the problem) - I don't own an iPhone, iPod, or iPad so I can't even try on another device.
As Jeremy im on a MacBook Pro running 10.7.3.
Anyone has the same experience? Or a possible answer?
Thanks in advance

I am having the same sign in problem, with my Mac Air 10.7.3. I think it is some kind of configuration problem as I also have a Mac Pro, iPhone and iPad, all of which are working fine with iCloud, and have been for a while. The Mac Air is a brand new install of Lion, so I really am lost as to what the problem is, but if I find it I will let you know.

I had this problem too on a Mac Mini recently upgraded to Lion.
What I had to do to solve it was go into itunes and login to iTunes / iTunes Store using my id. Then the iCloud sign in worked in System Preferences as expected.
Hope this helps.

I have figured out a way to log in if this happens again. You will need to do the following in Safari.
>Search for iCloud.com
>Click & Remove
To Reset Safari without closing ALL window
- Choose Safari > Reset Safari.
- Deselect (☑ Uncheck the box)>the box that says: "CLOSE all Safari windows": If you close all Safari windows, we will restart Safari.
3. Click Reset.
4. Then go back Choose Safari > Empty Cache.
Log in at iCloud.com once again. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem - when I try to set up Icloud on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.7.3) after changing my password I get the following "Unable to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud."
I have cleared all Cache and history from both Safari and Firefox and still I get the message.
I can assess the www.icloud.com via any browser so apple ID and passwords are correct.
The problem is when I try to set up Icloud on
Has anyone got any further suggestions?
