Not receiving push notifications from Whatsapp

I have an Iphone 4 and a have a problem with the notifications. I stop receiving notifications from Whatsapp if I exit the application, and i have to always go back into the application and check it, to receive them. I don't understand why, because it's not a problem with the settings, the notifications for this application are turned on.

When the phone is charging, it appears that the application remains in the background and i keep receiving all the notifications. What is the problem then? What can i do to receive the notifications all the time and not only when the phone is charging? I thought maybe the application exists to save the battery and that's why it doesn't when i charge my phone.. I tried the solution that i read in a discussion here, that supposed to change the DNS field for the wi-fi connection, but it didn't have any effect.

I hope someone can help me with a solution. Thank you!

Notifications with FaceBook have been a crap shoot from the start, but I've never had problems with notifications with the ESPN app and the same with other 3rd party apps such as with my banking app. No problem with notifications with the Fox News app and the same with the ATT app.

This is a problem with those apps. Notifications originate from the servers for an app.

Are you accessing any email account's that support push access?

If not, push does not apply, and fetch doesn't apply to this either. If Fetch isn't working for automatically checking for new messages with an email account that does not support push access, that isn't a notifications problem.

There is definitely a problem with notifications. I am running iOS5 on an iPhone 4 and periodically notice that I am not getting notices from any apps. Normally, on any day I will get several from Facebook, Road & Track, Drudge Report, App Store, etc.

Rebooting the phone will help notifications to function properly again for a little while, but then back to the same suspected faulty status. I'm guessing at least one app I use from time to time is somehow interfering with the operating system's ability to show or receive the alerts.

Hey Apple - any ideas?
