Feb 4, 2012 2:31 PM in response to wegrasby loyal apple fan,I was led to believe that all iPhone 4's come unlocked and that they only become locked to the first sim card you put in them?

Feb 4, 2012 2:38 PM in response to loyal apple fanby iamjeremie,Most of the countries sell simlocked iphones, unless you want to pay full price (but then, Apple store for most of them).
And to my knowledge (which may be wrong as in Belgium, it's forbidden by law to simlock a phone), the phone is already simlocked before you put your simcard in, as according to many messages on these boards, you need the original carrier simcard to activate the phone.

Feb 4, 2012 2:43 PM in response to iamjeremieby wegras,iPhones are locked to a Carrier where the carrier has subsidised the purchase price of the iPhone
Every country is different and it may be illegal in some countries however the OP was SPECIFICALLY refering to the UK so please do not complicate the response with irelevant generalities

Feb 4, 2012 2:49 PM in response to loyal apple fanby wegras,No see my post above an unlocked iPhone is an unlocked iPhone for ever but only Apple sell them in the UK that way
Retail stores (and as ToneFox points out Apple UK online but you have to be a UK resident to buy from them )

Feb 4, 2012 2:57 PM in response to wegrasby loyal apple fan,My iPhone is currently locked to three but I am looking to get a new phone from my insurance as there are a few things wrong with my phone that would be more hassle to repair as compared to just replacing the entire unit. Do you think the insurance company would give me the new phone unlocked or still locked to three? I should mention that it is 3rd party insurance.
-
Feb 5, 2012 4:26 AM in response to loyal apple fanby wegras,That's a tricky one I don't think anyone would know apart from the Insurance company
Are they linked to the 3 iPhone contract or is it separate insurance .
You have some kind of extended warranty ? if so and it is linked to 3 ?
Apple provide a replacement refurb unit for a fixed price so I imagine Insurance Co would use that (£119 up to the iP4 )
I can only think that if you get the 3 iPhone unlocked by 3 legitimately and then do what ever you do with ins at that point have an unlocked iPhone and should be able to get a replacement unlocked
I am assuming you are in the UK

Feb 14, 2012 1:40 AM in response to jimmyfaeglesgaby wegras,You will need the APN settings from Vodafone for their network
Easiest way is go to a Vodafone store and ask them to enter the relevant info
or use their website to obtain the detail
I asume the prepay has provision for Data you don't mention it

Feb 14, 2012 5:00 PM in response to wegrasby jimmyfaeglesga,Yeah it's the $30 cap $450 worth of credit and 500mb data
problem is as i said when i go to settings>>network>>
there is no cellular data network settings that would allow me to enter the APN setting manually.
The APN is live.vodafone.com
