after a normal shut down the power button does nothing to repoweer.. Do a cold restart and all's well????

Have G4 dual 1.25 gig mirror door. Do a normal shut down and try to restart with power button --- nothing. Unplug [cold restart] and it powers right up????

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), mirror door

That sounds like the classic symptom of bad/leaking capacitors, likely in the PSU, but have you tried...
