The best thing is to use the restore disc to return the computer to factory defaults. Boot the computer with your Snow Leopard DVD, switch to Disk Utility after selecting the installation language, erase the hard drive and then install the OS. Now the computer has none of your software on it and none of the configuration you've done.
I would add in Security Options, choose zero one pass erase. This will make your data completely unrecoverable, which an ordinary erase won't necessarily do.
I would, but i don't have the restore discs. What else can i do?
If you will call Apple and give them your serial number, they should be able to send you install disks; or..... since you are running 10.6.8, I can assume that your purchased Snow Leopard as a retail disk, in that case, you can simply buy another.
You do need an install disk to erase your hard drive and then reinstall the system and you really do not want to have another person have access to your private information. That could have some very unpleasant consequences.
