App store doesn't say I've purchased Lion anymore!

OK bear with me please. I bought Lion from the app store last July and installed it on my MacBook. Now fast forward to Feb 1st 2012 and I bought a new iMac. It came with Lion installed on it but I feel uneasy about having no Install disc. What if I dont have an internet connection and need to reinstall Lion one day? So I decided that I would download the installer again on my MacBook and Burn an Install dvd. My internet connection kept dropping during the download, and I wasnt able to get it. So then I thought I would just try to download it on my iMac. When I went to the App store, Lion isnt in my list of purchased Apps anymore! When I search for Lion, it says $29.99 not "Installed"!! Anybody know whats up with that? I sent Apple an E-Mail about it.

Yeah, same Apple I.D. I still have my receipt and everything. I put the order number and my Apple ID in my E-Mail to Apple.

For some reason Apple started hiding that purchase. I guess it's because the updates are still handled by Software Updates?

To make visible, open Mac App Store> Store menu> View my Account> select View hidden purchases.

Perhaps you inadvertently "hid" the purchase...

Click Account right side of the App Store window under Quick Links and login.

In the Account Information window click View Hidden Purchases

Then click Unhide > Done

How to redownload purcahses from the App Store:

Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In

Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.

Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

What if I dont have an internet connection and need to reinstall Lion one day?

You really need to take care of the download issue as there will be software updates in the future. The 10.7.3 is 1.26 GB alone.

oh wow ok cool. Guess I jumped the gun with my E-Mail to apple. Thank you very much. My only concern now is why my internet kept dropping during the download :-/ I'm trying it again on my iMac but I dont think changing the computer will do anything. We'll see. Thanks again.

It is because you are on a Mac that came with Lion.

If you go to your other Mac, the Macbook Pro, that you bought Lion for it will show up.

The App Store knows which Mac you are on and using to connect to the App Store.

But you can use the Lion Recovery HD partition to redownload the Lion install files.

You can also Mount the recovery hd partition inside Lion and download if from there.

I've used that to mount the recovery partition then the Basesystem.dmg and started the Lion download.

But please read the whole article before you begin.

Thanks, I read that article and I hate to admit it but it's too complicated for me :-/ I'm afraid I would make a mistake and damage my machine. So right now I am downloading the Installer on mt iMac and going to follow some simpler instrunctions I found to make an Install disk. The thing I still find odd is that my internet keeps dropping during this download and I keep having to resume it. Really annoying. I think it's because I have cablevision and they kind of suck. I have a new router and have had these issues with my previous router.

Watch that download. Once it finishes it will reboot the computer, install the OS and then DELETE the install files from your computer and or the hard drive it is being installed on.

Apple does not want you to keep that file.

It you are downloading to an external drive you need to Disconnect it when the computer reboots, Before it gets a chance to start up again.

It doesnt look like I'm going to be able to get it anyway. My internet keeps disconnecting during the download and after too many retries once I'm connected again I finally got an error message and I had to restart the download. At that point I just gave up. Makes me nervous that if any new OS comes out one day I wont even be able to get it. Or what if one day I have to reinstall Lion but I have no internet connection or it just keeps disconnecting? Then what? Am I basically screwed now?

Yeah that is the problem with this system. I was appalled and amazed when I didn't find an install DVD in the box my new MBP came in. I have done everything I can to rectify this for myself.

If you have an original Applications disc from a fairly recent Macbook Pro you can install iDVD from that disc and then use software update to update it to the most current version Apple is allowing.

iDVD is still included in Apple's iLife 11 suite (retail disk) available either at many online resellers or the Apple store. It is not available at the App Store. I've seen for as little as $25 at Amazon; iLife 11 includes all iLife applications.

And it is under some other software makers name. So maybe Apple never did own it and they just included it with older OSs.

iDVD was always available as part of the iLife suite - I do not understand your statements.
