I have a second generation apple TV and it works great with renting movies and streaming from my computer's library. However, it is extremely slow uploading movies recorded on my Iphone 4S. It doesn't matter if my Iphone 4s movie is streaming from my computer's library or directly from my phone it takes several minutes to buffer just a 1 minute video clip. Is anyone else having this same issues?
Convert them to a compatible format on the computer before streaming, you'll find they stream much more quickly.
What is a compatible format? Shouldn't a movie recorded on the Iphone be a compatible format? If it wasn't compatible why does it still play??
The iPhone 4s can shoot video at 1080p, the Apple TV will only play at 720p and the video needs converting before it will play, which is what is taking the time.
You can either endure the wait, convert it manually yourself on your computer or set your iPhone to record at 720p.
I'm pretty sure you can't adjust the record quality on the Iphone, just FYI.
I don't have one so can't verify, but thought I'd seen others mention that they have.
So, got the new apple TV which now supports 1080P and I am sad to say my recorded vidoes from the Iphone 4S take just as long to stream to the new apple TV. This does not make any sense to me since the video doesn't have to be converted anymore to 720P.
Does anyone else have this issue? It literally takes 10 minutes to stream a 2 minute video, but I can stream 1080P movies from the apple store through my Mac instantly.
Clandherr, I'm having the same issue. Streaming a 1:43 video I recorded from my Iphone 4S took 10 minutes to Airplay onto my Apple TV 3G. I've also experienced lag when it comes to YouTube and Vevo videos. I've checked my Network Configuration on my Apple TV and I've got a great signal and I'm using the Apple Extreme as a wireless router with 5Mhz speed. My internet speed is super fast as well. Not sure what the heck is going on. 😕
I'm also experiencing slow streaming. I rented a movie and it is taking hours to download. This has never happened before.
This is a very common problem of the iPhone reccordings taking FOREVER to stream on the ATV.
I am having the same problem. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?
Same problem here. After the first few seconds, the video keeps lagging.
