Reapply the 10.7.3 update via the Combo Updater.
I have updated three Macs to 10.7.3. All work fine. I credit ALWAYS using the Combo Update for my reliable updates:
After you have your Mac working, if you have trouble later, try applying the Combo version again. Even if you are already using the same version, the Combo may fix your problem.
Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions before updating and again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Installing the combo update - as you suggested - did not solve the problem. Any other ideas? The iSight is still not being recognized by the system profiler.
Here is what I suggest you do next.
System Profiler is a pre-Lion term. If you are really using OS X 10.7.3, you need to use the "System Information" utility.
After you launch "System Information", click the "USB" item in the "Hardware" item of the System Information window's sidebar. (If the reveal triangles are pointing to the right like ►, click on it so it points down like this ▼ to find the USB item.) Then look under each USB bus item in the "USB Device Tree" for your camera.
If there is no iSight or FaceTime camera listed anywhere in your "USB Device Tree", verify that you used the correct PMU/SMC "reset" procedure for your particular Mac model. If your camera is still not recognized in System Information", yours is most likely a hardware problem that will require a professional fix.
Then contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
Unless you have a current backup, make one before giving your Mac to the repair technician.
I noticed other posts proposing to reset the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US). I resolved the problem by shutting down and taking off the battery for few seconds. That's not a complete SMC reset, which includes a 5 second holding of the power button without battery.
The built-in iSight still does not appear in the "system information" window. Does anyone else have thoughts on this? I'd like to try everything I can before bringing it into Apple.
Has anyone had to get the built-in iSight replaced? Estimate on the cost?

With all you have tried without success, your trouble is most likely a hardware problem.
I suggest you make a backup and have your Mac looked at by an AASP.
There are no user serviceable parts of your Mac's inbuilt camera, and you have tried all users can do.

I've never had need to replace one. The AASP can give you an estimate after he checks out your Mac. There may be a charge for this if your Mac is not still covered by AppleCare or other warranty.
It is entirely reasonable for you to ask for a repair cost estimate before repairs begin so you can decide whether it is cost effective to you to have the work done.
I really don't think it's a hardware problem as a lot of people seem to have the same problem, including myself. The camera on my iMac (mid-2011 27") stopped working after upgrading to Lion. I'm not 100% sure if it was the Lion update that did it, it could have been some other software I installed (google video plugin?), but it was working fine before. There seem to be a lot of people saying that it was working fine before upgrading to Lion. Resetting the SMC didn't fix it for me. I am currently trying what you suggested though (fixing perms and installing the combo update, then fixing perms again). Hopefully that will work.
