Apple TV 2 LED Light Flashing?

Ok, i have had my Apple TV 2g for about a year now, and just yesterday (2/4/2012) I was watching a tv show using AirPlay off my PC, Windows 7, and my son walked over the power cable for the Apple TV 2g, and it shut off, and now all the LED light does is flash like 3 times per second. And when you plug it into a display via HDMI, it shows a Mini USB cable plugging into iTunes. So i took it over to my computer (Windows 7) and tried restoring it. But after about a minute or so, it gives an error saying "The Apple TV "Apple TV" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)." Can anyone help with this problem, does anyone have a solution?

I presume you followed these steps to restore it using a USB cable: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367

Try resetting it using the remote.

Also, here is a post from someone about following Apple's reset instructions using the USB cable and getting the same error. The solution was to also plug in the power cable.

Gino, the first link you gave me is impossible to do cuz on the monitor it just shows a mini usb cable plugging into iTunes, and yes, i did try the other solutions you gave me and none of them worked 😟 i did happen to try the solution on the "trick77" website and that didnt do anything either 😟

Hi Deepwater11,

did u manage to solve this particular problem? Im in the same boat and have pretty much tried everything other than replacing it. I keep getting error 9 or 1602
