This is driving me mad. The reminder app regularly freezes when making an entry on iPad. I enter the details and can't press 'done' as the entry simply hangs and freezes the entire application. Anyone else experience this and any tips for fixing?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.]

Thank you - that worked however I lose all content in the notes section of the reminder. It's such a pain it regularly freezes - an idea how to stop it freezing initially?

Thanks. Have you done a sync recently? You could restore to your latest backup.

You stated that Reminders regularly freezes, how did you get going again on those occasions? It will be interesting to see if the regular freezing occurs after your Reset.

Perhaps someone else might have further help on this matter, particularly with regard to syncing in Mail.

You could also do a search for reminders in Spotlight Search in the first page of your Home screen.

I visited the iPad for Dummies cheat sheet (http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/ipad-for-dummies-cheat-sheet.html).

If you scroll down a page or so, you will find the steps:

Five Things to Try When Your iPad Acts Up

Most of the time, your iPad behaves itself, but every so often it doesn't. Here's a quick review of things you can try if your iPad isn't working the way you expect:

    1. Restart your iPad.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the red slider to turn it off. Wait a few seconds. Press the Sleep/Wake button to turn on the iPad again.

    2. Force any frozen applications to quit.

Press and hold the Home button on the front of the iPad for 6 to 10 seconds. Then restart it (see Step 1).

    3. etc...

Start with step 2, then follow instaruction in step 1.

I had the same problem as you and managed to sort it out.

Doing it this way, the Notes in my reminders survived too.

Also, this is the second time this happened to me and it the Reminders app froze just around 00:15 UK time. Not sure whether some backup job kicks off at that time in the Apple data centre but I won't be working on my iPad just after midnight from now on...

You don't have to reset your iPad to get it working again. Just close the Reminder app in the task switcher bar and run Reminder again. However you will still lose your latest changes made to the item.

Hope Apple will fix this soon.

I'm having the same problem - just started using reminders (still on Snow Lion but moving next week to LION on my Mac and want Reminders with iCloud etc.) --- BUT when I just closed REMINDERS and re-opened it, the window was still frozen.  It happened 3 times in 15 minutes - each time I had to shut-down my iPad and yup, that reminder on which I was working was gone.

I'll look at this some more - but seems to be a REMINDERS problem, not me doing this.  Seems to occur only when I'm putting in dates and such.

Any further feedback appreciated!  I tried the 99 cent app iGotIt -- but that's really not even worth the 99 cents…  (My first "non-free" app - but I've got about $100 of apps targeted to purchase - like when one can try for free before going "pro" - but that's not possible with many).

OK I'm getting off subject -- appreciate any comments on this-- would like Reminders to work - will it copy TO DO's into iCal (when I'm on iCloud and LION)???

    Best regards,

Guys, as I have posted already, you don't have to restart your iPad.

I tried step 2 below first, and my Reminders started up again and my notes were safe.

A few days later my Reminders froze again and this time I opted to follow step 1 below expecting to lose my notes. The funny thing was that before I checked my notes, I installed iOS 5.0.1 (if I remember correctly) and the notes appeared back!

I have had no trouble since (touch wood)...

Start with step 2, then follow instructions in step 1.

Also, i leave Reminders alone around midnight.  Not sure whether some backup job kicks off at that time in the Apple data centre but I just don't trust the app around that time...

    Hope this helps?

I didn't have this problem last year but I have it now, for the last several days.  I've tried restarting both with the on/off button, and resetting with the combination of the home and on/off buttons, killing reminders.  Once you make a change in a reminder it appears to get hung trying to save it--to the cloud?--maybe?  Very annoying.
