Multi touch on magic trackpad

So I got the wireless multi-touch trackpad for my mac mini. When I tried to connect it, it says that it cannot find my trackpad, however I can use the trackpad like a normal mouse, I point and click ad drage, but I cna't right click, two finger scroll, rotate, or pinch/zoom, or screenzoom, or page back, or switch applications, or activate Expose. Is there something wrong with the multitouch? How can I fix it?

Oh yeah, and my mini is O SX version 10.6.8...

If you can use your trackpad as a mouse (cursor, point and click, drag) then it's paired and connected. Look in System Preferences > Trackpad. See if your options look like this:

If not, then some third party software like USB overdrive is conflicting with the sysprefs.

do you know where and/or how to get rid of the third party USB overdrive? and will the trackpad work with out the USB overdrive, or will I have to download another one?

If USB overdrive has been installed on your system previously, the uninstaller will be in the Utilities subfolder in the applications folder. You don't need this 3rd party app for the trackpad.
