Q: My powerbook g4 15inch went lame after a long session of nonstop use.The mac osx froze up and I had to push the power button to restart.Now when I push power it makes the start up chime then goes to a grey screen (no apple logo).

Help me please! I need advise on what to do with my powerbook g4.When I push the power button I hear the start-up chime, then the screen goes to a solid grey and does not have the apple logo or spinning wheel.What to do?

First try a safe boot (holding down the shift key at power up) and see if the directory repair that is a part of a safe boot solves the problem.

If that doesn't work, see this for the next step:
