Is panic.plist errors covered after warranty is up

My iPad is past it's original warranty and I don't have extended warranty. For the past few months my iPad has been shutting down, some times resetting other times haveing to hard reset it. I looked at the error report and have quite a few panic.plist errors which are supposedly hardware problems. Most people I have read with this problem just get there device replaced but I don't know if they will replace my iPad without the warranty.

iPad, iOS 5.0.1

If you are out of warrantee it isn't likely that the iPad will be replaced at no cost to you. Have you tried to restore your iPad?

You might want to try to chase down the cause of the low memory. There is a fair amount of system crashes etc being reported, and they all seem to go back to the number of open apps, and iOS not releasing enough memory for new apps.

In theory, when you opens new app, iOS closes down an old app to release memory. But there is a glitch somewhere in that system.

There are a couple of apps that can help you find your own culprits. One is system status. Get it, load it up and you can see how much free memory you have avaiable at any point in time.

Load it up, then double tap the home key to see your recently used apps. Touch and hold any of them until they jiggle, then shut them don by touchingnthe minus sign. If you do this while system status is open, you can see the memory being returned to the system.

I find that safari is often the culprit, particularly if you have multiple windows open.

As a matter of practice, close down those old apps to keep your machine running happy.

In my case the ipad will shut down with nothing in the background and it has even restarted with my just unlocking it. So my problem is hardware. The closest apple store is a few hours away so I haven't gone to see if they would fix it. I'm just waiting for iPad 3. Anchann if your iPad just says low memory in the error logs then you have too much stuff running or too big an app. If it actually says panic.plist there is an issue. Restoring from an old backup made mine worse and I never wanted to try restoring completely but I dont think that will help either. Your safest bet is to go to apple if it is convenient. Just convince them that restoring is not enough if it's a panic.plist.

My iPad has countless low memory shutdowns of apps on a daily basis actually. The panic warning has only showed when the iPad restarts. I don't see how one can associate that to hardware without actually examining the hardware itself. I was thinking it was iOS not being able to load correctly, and therefore panicking. Kind of like the blue screen of death the Windows platform gets, or the screen Mac OSX has of a similiar nature.
