Why won't my apps sync in the media folder?

I have an external drive that I use for content. iTunes is configured to use it as the media folder and it works fine for music and video.

The problem is that for apps, iTunes puts all new apps on my local drive which doesn't have enough space for all of them (that's the reason I bought the external drive). Now I have to go through a tedious procedure to copy them over, re-add them to iTunes and then click "yes I'd like to replace..." 75 times. For every version update, etc. I end up having to do this again.

How can I get iTunes to put the apps in the media folder on the external drive so I can avoid the tedious manual work to move them around.

Thanks,

Roger

Take a look at this post. As well as having the media folder split from the library folder I suspect your libray is in the "old" layout which explains why the apps end up where they do. Update the library to the new layout and also make sure that the external drive is always mounted before you start iTunes otherwise the media folder location can automatically reset to the default location.
