Large Folder Called '.LD'

Hi

Using Daisy Disk I see a folder called .LD which is taking up most of my hard disk now.

The path is Mac HD>Users>Me>.LD

What is it?

Can and how can I delete it?

What is creating it?

When I drag it to the drop area to collect the files for deletion in Daisy Disk I get told they are needed by the OS.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

David

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure what's created this .LD folder, perhaps some third-party software that you used. However, I have successfully used DaisyDisk to delete this folder (I have created it manually for the sake of experiment). Maybe by mistake you tried to delete the entire Me or Users folder? That's the case when DaisyDisk will tell you the folder is needed by Mac OS X.

Hi

The issue here is to do with LiveDrive.

If you drag and drop files into the briefcase copies will be kept on your Mac as well as in LD data centres. This is not how I wanted to use the service and they don't make it clear.

To avoid this in the future and just have files stored on their DC's then select the folder or files and then click on the LD icon in the menu bar and select copy to briefcase.

If you want to remove the files that have been stored on your Mac safely then open the LD briefcase, select all the folders and files in there, click on the LD icon in the MAc menu bar and click on do not store on my mac.

Hope that helps.

David
