I was wondering if anyone has an idea why I can't turn off my iphone 4? I have fried to turn it off by holding the button on top of the phone and also holding the botton on top and the home button together, both times it acts like its going to shut off but then it turns right back on. Also, it recently started going through my battery like crazy! thanks in advance for any info!

Try resetting it: hold the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears (ignore the off slider that appears first), release and wait for the phone to restart. Try the off slider again and see if it shuts off this time.

Thanks for the suggestion. That was one of the things that I tried before but when I slide the slider to turn it off all it does is have this little spinning circle in the center of the screen then just when I think it's gonna turn off the apple icon pops up and my phone is on. It never turns off!
Hold the on/off button (on top) and the home button until you see the red slider appear that says "Slide to Power Off". Slide this to turn it off.
I tried that too with no luck. I've done it before and it would take a little bit for it to boot back up but now it literally turns right back on.
Not sure what to tell you. You might need to take it to the Apple store.
Who's your provider Verizon?
OMG I'm having the same problem. I took it to apple, they reset my phone, and I'm still experiencing the same problem. I'm going to take it back up there tomorrow. Have you had any luck?
