Feb 10, 2012 9:05 PM in response to Joseph Krizby Joel Ulrich,I see it listed as one of the available networks in the Airport status icon in the menu bar. I created the network a couple days ago by checking the 5ghz box. But I have since replaced the two Expresses that I was using to extend the network, with two Extremes. I have three Extremes total: the main base and the two to extend it. Both say that they are linked to the regular network, not the one designated as 5GHz. But it still shows up as an available network.

Sorry it was not the OP but Joel Ulrich who needed to distiguish between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Let's go through a process of elimination. Unplug the two new Extremes from power to eliminate them from the network leaving only the main router and see if the separate 5GHz goes away. If it is still there and you can't find any setting on that main router to indicate a separate 5GHz network then reset to factory defaults and start again.
If the separate 5GHz network disappears once the other two routers are unplugged then we know that the problem lies with one of the other two routers. Plug one of the other two routers in and check if the 5GHz network shows up in the Wi-Fi menu. Again, if it does then you now know which router has the 5GHz network configured. Once you figured out which router is the culprit just reset it to factory defaults and start again to add it back to the network.

Feb 11, 2012 8:35 AM in response to Gino Cerulloby Joel Ulrich,Thanks again Gino. The troubleshooting working, and I determined that one of the new Extremes was still broadcasting the separate network. After resetting it, the extra network was eliminated and all is good.
