iPhone 4s cannot send/receive email from hotmail account

I have seen this problem in other threads but none of the suggested fixes worked. I have an iPhone 4S with ios5 and all of a sudden I cannot send or receive emails from my iPhone. I have reentered the password multiple times and also deleted the account in mail settings and set it up again using the hotmail option to no avail. The same thing has also started happening on my wife's ipad2. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

thanks for the reply razmee209, this is the thread i was refering to. i have tried this multiple times while choosing the 'hotmail' option and the 'other' option. neither method works. its not the first time this happened. i had the same issue about 1 year ago which resolved itself, this time it started happening after hotmail prompted me to reset my password. i'm stumped!

i had this issue too when setting up you account on your phone select the account but when it comes to the passwork only use sixteen characters,my password is more than 16 characters and i was unable to be verified but when i just out in the forst 16 characters i was verified
