iPhone4S WiFi roaming with Cisco Jabber
Hello Apple Community,
I have been searching the web for this information I seek but to no avail. I am therefore creating my own thread. I work in a large organisation with a Cisco Controller based wireless infrastructure. We are considering issuing Apple iPhones as a standard mobile device to all employees worldwide. We are however also testing a dual-mode phone wireless IPT solution using the Cisco Jabber client for the iPhone4S. We see however less than optimal roaming issues with this solution. We are using EAP-FAST with WPA but as I can see that the Cisco Wireless Controller registers the iPhone4S as non CCX compliant. Therefore CCKM is not supported and there goes our fast roaming. Fair enough if Apple does not want to support Cisco CCX but what alternatives are they then presenting to the corporate world? We need to ensure a fast (<100ms) roam using 802.1x. PSK is not a enterprise feasable solution. And equally important we need the iPhone using Jabber to support QoS. The wireless chipset in the iPhone4S must therefore support WMM. Does it? And if it does can the Cisco Jabber Client Interact utilize this WMM support?
In summary:
1. Can someone confirm once and for all; does the iPhone4S support CCX and/or WMM?
2. If the iPhone supports CCX or WMM; can the Cisco Jabber client utilize this support?
3. Does Apple have any technical recommendations or comments when using their iPhone4S for real-time apps over a corportae WiFi network?
Best Regards,
Jonas Nielsen
