My touchpad broke like glass.

How much would it cost to replace it? also does it come in a package that I can take over seas since I currently do not live in the US, but I can get someone to pick it up for me, can i self install it or do i have to take it to a tradeline store?

It broke like glass because the trackpad is made from glass. I'm not sure how much it would cost. I found replacement instructions here http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro, but only for the 13" MBP, and the difficulty level is "moderate". Click on the image of the Early 2011 13" MBP listed and then click on "trackpad" to get an idea of the repair process.

The trackpad for the 13" runs about $90. I'm not sure which 15" model you have but it'll probably cost about the same. You can also try and give eBay a try, but I'm not sure if you want to go that route. I would suggest going in to an Apple Store if possible and see how much they'll charge to repair it since it does look somewhat difficult.

Apple sells new repair parts only to authorized service providers, not to end users. Used trackpads are available from parts vendors at whatever prices they think the market will bear. There are no standard prices for them.
