You can download YouTube videos on any device simply by using this method.
The method follows like this:
1. You have to open the video which you want to download.
2. Copy the video url.
3. Visit Acethinker Video Downloader ( http://acethinker.com/online-downloader ) and paste the url in the box.
4. Click on Download Button.
5. Now choose the quality (720p,1080p,480p etc) in which you want to download the video.
6. After choosing the quality, the download will begin soon.
There are some browsers plugins that do that. For example, you can get the Chrome extension called "Youtube Downloader", or the Firefox add-on "Easy YouTube Video Downloader". There are other options for Chrome and Firefox, but I am not sure about Safari or Explorer.
Menu item Window/Activity
Look through the list and find the video. The most recent web page will be at the bottom.
Option double click on the correct line to download the video.
It is easiest to locate the video while it is still loading because it will stand out, saying "## of ##MB". If it is a small video it may load too fast to catch that. In that case, look for a large file. Most videos are in MB's in size while most ofther items on the page are KB's.
The video may be a FLV file. You may need to download Perian or VLC to view it. Perian will let you open it in Quicktime
This works on other sites too, not just YouTube
I seem to be having trouble with this. When I doubleclick on the video that is downloading from You Tube in my Safari Activity window, the video automatically plays again in another Safari tab. At this point, I have two videos playing at the same time and I still do not where the actual temp file is on my hard drive. My next step is to do a File Save As from Safari. When I do that, the file that is saved has a .webarchive file extension. I can only play this in Safari only. Why is this? I used to be open my saved You Tube videos in my iTunes program.
I tried the OPTION double click from the activity window. Nothing happens when I do that. But, if I double click without holding down the option button key, which I was doing, then the file reopens in a new Safari tab.
@vi.vi, I tried the Firefox option and that worked nicely. There are plenty of YouTube add-ons to choose from. I searched the Extensions allowed for Safari and did not see anything relating to YouTube downloading.
I do not know why option-double-click does not work for you. Maybe an older version of Safari?
There is no obvious feedback when you option-double-click. The only thing you'll see is the download progress bar in the little box at the top right corner of the Safari window.
I am using Safari 5.1.2 Correction on my last. Option-double-click DOES do something. I just wasn't aware of it. When I went into my downloads folder in Finder, an FLV file was there. Badunit, I don't see that download progress bar. I only see a Google search field.
Badunit, I checked for that but I do not see. I even tried to go thru my Safari preferences to see if I have that hidden. Speaking of a progress bar, I do notice that as I download webpages, the blue bar shows up in the address field and moves to the right as the page is downloading. Wondering if same thing.
Please read more carefully. OPTION double click from the activity window.
im useing i mac 10.7.3 i was needing a link to gettube so i can down load youtube video's ones i seen can't get them to work movenup@gmail.com 870-675-6677
To the right of the Google search field is an arrow in a circle in a box. When you are downloading something, the little box also has a progress bar in it.
