After updating to 10.7.3 WiFi does not reconnect after waking up from sleep

I bought my iMac 21" i5 late 2011 before christmas, and it came with 10.7.2 and never had any problem with WiFi, but last week I installed the 10.7.3 update via the Software Update menu under Apple logo, the update was about 500~600mb.

Now I leave my iMac turned on and after when I come back it slept, I click on my magic mouse like I always do, it wake up, but the WiFi is disconnected, if I click on the WiFi icon, it is acctually not turned off it says on first item Wi-Fi: On, and show my Wifi network and others, it is just not associated. It I click on my network it connect and everything works. But this is really annoying me.

Sorry Lanny, but it does not help. I tried it, but still the same problem. You either have to choose your Wi-Fi manually or just shut off the Wi-Fi and then put it on again. When you do this, it will connect to your pre-chosen Wi-Fi. I think we have to wait for a new update.

I had the issue since the intro of Lion, including after the update to 10.7.3. But, after reading that

10.7.3 was supposed to include a fix for the wifi connection issue, I downloaded the 1.0.16 version of the installer and reinstalled Lion. So far, the wifi connection from sleep issue seems to resolved.

I did not have any such issues until the 10.7.3 version came. I reinstalled it (10.7.3) manually (by downloading the installer), but the wifi-issue still remains. Quite interesting, though; fore someones the issue have been present since the intro of Lion, but for me this is a new issue that came with 10.7.3. My iMac was delivered with OSX Lion. Is it possible that the CPU have soething to do with this? I have the i7 (4-core, 2,8 GHz).

I am now downloading the "full version" of the 10.7.3 from the App store. The only problem is that I probably have to pay for it. There was no message telling med that the copy is free because the system version is already running on the computer... But if it solves the problem, it is a quite low price to be payed.

Lanny

There are a number of threads on this problem

I have the same issue

10.7.3 was supposed to fix this issue experienced by some 10.7.2 users but not all

If you wake your machine using the mouse or keyboard it will not reconnect to the wifi

If you wake your machine using the start button it should connect to the wifi

Give it ago.

I have tried all of the fixes mentioned in many threads and tried apple tech support to no avail

Any fix only seems to be short lived and the problem comes back

I restored my machine to the recovery HD rolling it back to 10.7.2 and all is now fine.

Looks like another bug with 10.7.3

Let's hope they fix it soon

I noticed on interesting thing: I have a "La Fonera" wifi-router, whose private channel I usually use. but I also have on ADSL-modem with built-in wifi. Wen I changed the ADSL-modem to an other one without wifi, the issue disapperaed! It seems to me that the system cannot cope with more than one wifi-signal! Deleating the other station fråm the wifi-settings does not cure the problem.

I am downloading a new "full version" of the 10.7.3. Let's see if it cures the problem. It costs a little money (the App store does not recognize the system version on the computer and therefore one have to buy the new system, if the system was already installed when you bought the computer), but if it solves the problem it's OK.

Giutarfoder , how do you restored back to 10.7.2? do you used the CMD+R on startup, if I do this I lost some settings/files/apps?

It's been about 5 days now. I do believe it's hardware related because it's only been an issue on 1 of my 3 Macs, a MacBook Pro 3.1. I have a MacBook Air 1.1 and a MacMini 3.1 that have never had the issue.

Can't be a hardware problem, just because, NEVER had any problem with the 10.7.2.

The cause of this is affecting some computers and not all, probably is some OS bug with a Driver of especific WiFi card model.

I tried to remove all saved networks from Airport and also remove all passwords of the airport stored in KeyChain. (problem still)

Hardware problem or not; the issue did not disappear after installing a totally new system (not an update). I still have the same problem, even with only one wifi-station in use. I my case the computer is a 21,5" iMac with the 4-core i7-processor (2,8 Ghz), and the system is 10.7.3. Still: when the computer woke up in the morning, the wifi connection had to be set manually. It finds the signal, ok, but it does not connect to it. But if I shut down the wifi and then put it on again, it connects to the right signal without any problem. But as I said: it has to be done manually! This problem came along with 10.7.3, so probably Apple will do something about it, hopefully very soon.
