Can I download the Kindle app. on a 1st generation iTouch?

iPod touch, iOS 3.1

That is correct. The Kindle - Read Books app requires iOS 3.2 or later. The 1G iPod can only go to iOS 3.1.3. Sorry,

That is a bummer. So, does that mean that everyone with a Gen 1 will have to go out and purchase a new iTouch/Phone?

If they wish to run apps that require a version of iOS later than 3.1.3, yes.
