Both of these printers are Postscript level 1 and have the LocalTalk interface. To be able to use them in OS X you would need a LocalTalk to ethernet adapter (eg AsanteTalk) and the special Gimp printer driver. The LaserWriter IINT board could also be replaced with one from a LaserWriter IIg and an AAUI to 10baseT adapter which makes it compatible and very useable with OS X.

thanks grant. i linked to the site and see the specs but madre mia what do i do with them now? i've got an asante hardware, will look at it tonight and send the exact specs along. we used it previously with a pb170 and the laserwriter, which worked ok till we started getting pastscript errors. here in spain, folks don't seem to know much about macs, even the authorized sellers. i get the feeling everyone wnats to sell new machines, instead of using what already works. frank

As I'm trying to solve the same problem, I'm very curious if that will be possible.I have the AsantéTalk connected. I tried the whole line of procedures as outlined in this forum. I installed' espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg' and 'pslevel1-foomatic-1.1.ppc.dmg'
My computer 'sees' my printer, or my driver:"Apple Laserwrier IINT, Foomatic + Postscript, but it stops the printing job.
I would be very pleased if this coul be solved.
