How can I make negative numbers red on a spreadsheet while keeping positive numbers black?

In your Format menu is a choice called "Conditional Formatting". Highlight the appopriate cells and select Conditional Formatting. It will then ask you to set up parameters, such as "Cell value is less than 0" then select a format for that parameter (red letter color).
