I have backups there and had executed what you have suggested on #A5 and seems there in no issue with the backups

Did the message say it ". . . appears to be ok"? If you're not sure, go back and click the Log icon, or select Window > Show Log from the menubar to see the messages.

but the time capsule keep saying that "internal disk needs repair". Should I erase it ?

Only as a last resort.

Try Restarting it, perHow to verify or erase a Time Capsule disk.

If that doesn't help, check the S.M.A.R.T. status, per the blue box in #9 of Using Disk Utility. If that shows "Failed," the disk is failing. If so, post back for repair/replacement advice.

I have the internal disk repair issue as well, it is only 3 months old and I need to recover files stored on time capsule, if i use apples return service do they offer a data recovery service or should I void warranty and use an external disk repairer/recovery service? I am desperate to save the data on time capsule. And no I didn't have a back up for time capsule as yet.

Generally Apple will offer no help.. and indeed it is not easy to fix.

If your files are basically lost then bite the bullet and you will need to fix it yourself. Or get a disk recovery company to help.. btw this is why we repeatedly say.. TC is backup device.. not a NAS.. not a safe place to store your files.

If you follow the instructions.. very carefully removing the rubber mat.. much harder in the latest ones btw .. the glue is different and doesn't peel as nicely.

Leave the label the last bit to pull up.. and draw the rubber mat parallel to it length wise so the label is not creased.. lets say if it all goes back together such that no body is the wiser.. that is no bad thing.

You then need a USB to sata holder that can handle 3TB drives.. if it is 3TB.. most with 2TB are fine.

You will need to buy a recovery software.. DiskWarrior is the standard Mac product.. but I found Data Rescue 3 worked fine.. and you can download a demo and see if it will work before paying..DiskWarrior seems to now have the attitude pay and if it doesn't help.. too bad! I have done exactly this job for a customer who needed files recovered.. and since apple started using those wretched cheap WD green drives.. this is not an uncommon occurance.

Of course you can just hand the drive to recovery specialist but will cost you more than the $99 charge that most of these recovery software have.

Once you recover the files.. if/when.. you will need to buy an external drive of adequate size to store them. If that drive is then placed in the TC you might be able to use it.. if you get a bare drive.

You can also download the WD tools for dos.. you will need a pc so you can plug it in and boot into dos.. and do a low level format of the drive. That will sometimes fix them... but once you have data off it.. seal up the TC carefully.. and you can figure the rest.

You can replace the drive yourself once you remove the existing drive.. !!
