last week my 4s was showing the red badge icon for facebook fine...
now it doesn't work at all until i open facebook then exit it.
did a full reset and that didn't work.
iphone 4s with 5.0.1
all other badges are working fine.
another interesting note,
facebook mobile in safari doesn't work at all.
never has...
anyone have a solution??

Verify that the most current version of the facebook app is installed.
Basic troubleshooting for iDevices is reset, restart, restore.
Beyond that...address it with facebook. Personally, I've never had reliable notifications from the facebook app.
Facebook tries to push people to the App, so using the Safari version probably has been deprecated by Facebook.
Have you checked notifications to make sure that you've got everything set right? Go to Settings>Notifications>Facebook. Make sure it's in the Notification Center (you can toggle that). Make sure that all the types of notifications have been set (Badge App, Sounds, etc.).
I was not expecting them to fix the badge icon.
I wanted them to fix safari.

I've been having the same problem and its been for about a week now as well.
Genius bar had no solution.
One tech said his never worked.

I would not expect them to have a solution, the issue is with the Facebook app, not iOS or the device.
Take it up with Facebook.
