FCPX 10.0.3 will not work with my Mac Pro ???

Here are my specs:

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600

Type: GPU

Bus: PCIe

Slot: Slot-1

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

and I can't run FCPX. Message says: Graphics configuration not supported

End of story !

Apple guy (Steven) told me to buy a new computer ! WHAT THE F....!

When I asked if I could simply change the graphic card, he said maybe

Where is Steve, now that we need him...

So what gives ? New card (but choice is rather limited: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4728?viewlocale=en_US) and if so which one cause none on this list seems to be available anywhere

or new computer ? ouch !

or good old FC 7 ?

btw previous FTP 10.1 is working fine but according to Steven, it's only because Apple made a mistake and that it should have never worked in the first place. There was a problem with graphic card recognition in v.10. All fixed now so nothing works ! (what a fix...)

Please give the specs on your Mac Pro Computer

Yes, the card will have to be replaced but not necessarily your computer

I am on a 2.8 dual - Mac Pro (early 2008) and FCPX is running pretty well but I replaced my original Radeon 2600 card with a 5770 and it's great

Most of the ATI cards seem to be available from Other World Computing.

Agree Tom. And there are plenty of cards on the net and Amazon has a lot of 5770's for the MAC

Also, I sold my old 2600 on ebay and received a little bit of cash. People still buy them for various reasons despite their age

They can still sell for $100 over and under (used)

And a 5770 will work with a 2.8 dual - we have the same machine. Read the comment section on the 5770

Just for your comfort.... I run an even older MacPro, model 1.1! My original video card gave up a while ago and I replaced it with the 5770, bought from Apple, and FCPX is working fine (graphically speaking!).

Handy tip... get it from Apple, not off the shelf in a big box store. Apparently the 5770 for Mac has different firmware (all a bit beyond me) but if you get it from Apple all the right bits are included!

There's plenty of posts about it on the MacPro part of the community.
