Yes there is a language barrier. Sorry I don't speak Russian and don't know if anyone on this board does. If they do, they make jump in the conversation any time.

Do you know anyone else with a good understanding of English that can help to give a better translation?

I just can make out exactly what the problem is. Now it looks like we are back to not being able to log into the computer. iCloud can't lock you out of the computer. Whatever was done is a mystery.

Based on what you're saying, you can't get into the computer, which has nothing to do with iCloud.

Following the instructions I gave earlier to reset the computer password seem's more now what you're looking for.

I asked what steps you took to get to that grey screen. You didn't reply to that.

Can't be sure, but from what you said it appears you are on a login screen.

Since you're using lion, you must boot in recovery mode. Either restart the computer holding the command & r keys or restart the computer holding the option key and choose the recovery disk.

Method 1 – Reset a Lost Mac OS X Lion Password

You have to boot from a Lion Recovery drive, this can either be a recovery disk made with the Lion Disk Maker tool, or just by booting from the built-in Lion Recovery HD partition.

  • Hold “Option” at boot and select the “Recovery” disk at the boot menu
  • Wait for “Mac OS X Utilities” menu to appear, indicating that you are booted into recovery mode
  • Click on the “Utilities” menu and select “Terminal”

User uploaded file

  • Type the following:
  • resetpassword
  • Confirm the user account and then the password change and reboot Mac OS X 10.7 as usual with your new password

This replaces the “Reset Password” menu item that used to be in place prior to OS X 10.7, which was one of two original methods of resetting a Mac OS X 10.6 or prior password. Why the change to the Terminal method? Probably for increased security now that recovery partitions are standard with Lion.

The above method is by far the easiest, but if it’s unavailable for some reason, you can choose another method:

I see what you're saying, but I've never seen that before. You may have set a root password or maybe using filevault, but I'm not familiar with the effects of either.

If you have done either of those, can you remember the password you used? If not, try hitting just the enter key.

See if you can open disk utility instead of terminal.

I think someone else a bit more familiar with this will have to put some input here.

Thanks for chiming in with that info.

That makes great sense. I couldn't understand the iCloud issue, but now I do. So, if he can't remember the pin code used, basically the only thing that can be done is to erase the hard drive and reinstall the system software.

Since it can't keep the cd in and can't open the utilities, he can't erase the drive and reinstall the software. Either would have to erase the drive started up from another or replace the hard drive.

Not good.
