Mail shows downloading activity but no mails show up?

Since a few days, whenever i download mails the activity window shows incoming mails but it oftenly shows 3 or 10 incoming messages and afterwards i only see 1 in my inbox. There is also no mails in any of the other folders... Does anyone know what this is about?/Have a solution?

Is this a sign that i've been hacked?

Thanks for any advise!

Hi, could be a few things.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.

Move this Folder to the Desktop...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/

Move this file to the Desktop...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index

Reboot.

Note: /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index may or may not not exist in 10.5 & up.

If using Filevault see this...

"Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full' alert"...
