Help me highlight text while scrolling down

In safari for macbook pro, I can't seem to highlight text while scrolling down through to the end of a page. (Start at the top, click, hold, drag down).

The highlighting stops at the bottom of what I see on the screen and can't go past to the bottom of the page.

However, it works going upwards (start at the bottom, click, hold, drag up).

I don't think it's a problem with the computer because, the highlighting works with all my other programs.

It's just safari that's not doing it.

I'm aware of the hold shift and click method, but I'm just used to the other way.

Please help. Can't find the answer anywhere.

Try deleting the cache.db associated with Safari.

Quit Safari.

Go to ~ / Library / Caches / com.apple.Safari

Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.

Relaunch Safari.

BTW... you don't need to move the scroll bar at the same time you are highlighting and dragging over text. Just highlight and drag.

If you want to copy/paste and entire page press Command + A which "selects All" .. then Command + C then Command + V

Did I accidently change something that could've caused this?

I doubt it..

Maybe an extension...

Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test.

Or possilby a plugin > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Still no luck. Tried both methods and still have the same problem.

As far as I can tell, there are no extensions, plugins, or add-ons that I installed.

I just got the computer a couple of months ago.

The only things I've added since was Microsoft Office for mac, Adobe master suite cs5, skype, log me in and zipeg. Plus I downloaded the Pages app.

Is there anything else I should try, or should I just bring my computer in to somebody at apple?

It's not even that big of a deal - just annoying.
