Has anyone racked an Xserve vertically?

Due to space limitations, I would like to rack my Xserver vertically (few inches from the wall). I've seen some racking products for sale on the web that support this but I am curious if there are any implications or problems that might arise. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Other than toppling over there's no issue or risk in putting the XServe on its side. Just make sure you maintain airflow.

Camelot,

Thanks for the reply.

This is a solution that I am considering:

I've been in & out of datacenters most of my career - just never seen a server racked vertically. I've seen plenty of Telco equipment racked in this manner.

I wanted to bounce this idea off the community to see if anyone has experienced any abnormal wear or failure due to racking this way.

Thanks again!
