Editing embedded excel files

In order to track employees and customers my business uses a word document with an embedded excel file. My employees need to be able to edit and resave that embedded excel file. The files are stored on dropbox. I have tried using quickoffice pro which shuts down if I even try and view the file. Does anyone have any recommendations on apps that allow this functionality.
