Roaming in the Caribbean, phone number won't verify in imessage

I really need help with this as I can't call Apple for help! I have been in the Caribbean for the last 6 months and my phone has been working perfectly until recently. It would connect to whichever network service area I was in, Lime or Digicel...until recently. I have recently had to change my password for my apple id. Imessage has been working fine but I have not received any text messages and recently received the message SMS inbox full delete messages....yadayada I did that and nothing helped. Now I see that in settings / messages / receive at / only my apple id email address is showing. When i click that and try to add my phone number, it is veryifying constantly. It will not verify. I have reset my network settings and that has not helped. I have chosen a specific network to connect to incase it was a netowk issue and that hasn't seemed to help.

Can anyone out there help with this? I have been googling and googling looking for a fix. I think that if I can get it to verify my phone number I will be all set. The phone number in my apple id is (xxx)xxx-xxxx and it is trying to verify +1(xxx)xxx-xxxx but I can't get it to remove the +1 incase that is part of the trouble. This issue has just happened. Everything was working great until I found out I wasn't receiving text messages 😟

Thanks but none of that seems to relate to my problem. One other thing that I think may be related to the issue is that in settings / messages/ receive at - only shows my email and I can't add my phone number. When I click this it shows my phone number in gray but it is not verifying it. I am thinking that my problem is stemming from this.

Don't suppose you're in Dominica too? Mine randomly started to do this too. I've been using it fine since January but now it wont verify my phone number so I imessage via email. It's not that big of a deal as long as you notify all the people you text (just text them and then it automatically turn your phone number into your email under their texts). I messaged AT&T, they had no idea. I've searched extensively and none of the solutions have worked. You might just have to wait till you go back to the states to get it fixed.

Oh the things I have tried...but then I found theses two things in the forum: I tried it, turned the phone off and on again and it worked:

This was the first thing I did:

Go to: Settings>iMessage> switch off.

Go to: Settings>Facetime> switch off.

I noticed that in: Settings>Phone> that "My number" was unknown (go check yours now)

When I tried to click on the "Unknown" to input the number...it would not allow me to.

Go to: Settings>Airplane mode> Turn off. Wait a moment, then switch back on and go back to: Settings>Phone>

You should be allowed to input your number including country code.

Check to see if "My Number" has been updated.

Go to: Settings>iMessage> switch back on.

Go to: Settings>Facetime> switch back on.

Phone number is verified in both Facetime and iMessage.

My phone number in settings/messages/receive at was then showing 2 addresses - click that and see that your phone number is verified. Mine verified instantly after doing all of the above.

This is the second thing I tried. I am not sure which one worked but maybe it was a combination of them both!

I just resolved my issue in activation of FaceTime and iMessage. Please follow the steps:

1. Turn off the iMessage and FaceTime.

2. If your tel # are not yet addeded to your contact list please do so. Make sure that you select iPhone not mobile.

3. Change your My Info(Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar>My Info) by selecting your created contact.

4. Go to Setting>Phone. Check if your number is reflected in My Number. Then turn on your Show My Caller ID and also the International Assist.

5. make sure that your apple ID are login in Store under Settings.

6. Once your done, close all apps using the double tapping of home button.

7. Hard reset your iPhone.

8. After your iPhone boot. Check if you have Internet connection and then turn on your FaceTime then iMessage.

9. Activate by logging in your apple ID.

Hope it works for you!
