First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

I once had a Palm TX and it did the same thing. I would sync it, then reset EVERYTHING on the iPod, then restore it. However, when I did this to my Palm TX, it went right back to not turning off (not even the screen) So I figured something was on it that caused it not to turn off. I don't know if this is true for the iPod Touch, but it's worth a try. If restoring it doesn't work, (just like the Palm TX), then here's a question. The sync before last, was it having the same problem? Go back to the most recent sync that didn't have the shut off problem and restore from that point. If none of this working, then I'm sorry bud, you might have to start clean. Select new iPod instead of restore from previous iPod. Then Sync on the apps and everything that you had on before. Even if you start clean and it still does, call Apple.

My iPod touch won't turn off. I tried and the turn off slide button in stuck in the of position, but it's still not turning off. It's been a few days please help!!!!
