What is your Mac OS version?
What happens when you try to launch Google Earth?
I am using OS X. When I launch Google earth from my browser (Safari) google map tab I get this message
"There was a problem with the Google Earth Plugin. Please try reloading the page.
If that doesn't help, you can re-install the Google Earth Plugin using this link." I have tried re-installing it to only get the same result.
I don't use the plugin, so I can't help you with that. I don't even know what it's supposed to do. You certainly don't need it to use the Google Earth application. If you really need the plugin, you'll have to contact Google for support. Otherwise, I suggest you get rid of it and just use the application.
When you reinstalled the plugin did you restart your browser?
Please give a link to an example page that requires the plugin so others can verify whether there's a problem with the site.
I did restart the browser together with the computer. This is the link http://maps.google.com/

Strange. That site works for me whether I have the plugin installed or not. Tried Safari and my preferred browser, Firefox.
