I recieved an email from Amaysim (otherwise known as Optus) telling me I need to change the APN on my phone to Internet. When I opened network I dont seem to have the data settings inorder to change it. I googled and found out I could fix it by installing the carrier settings on itunes. How do I do it? I have tried everything and I still dont have the menu on my phone. Please help!

you do not need to. 3GS has auto-detect feature.. if the carrier you are using supports apple iPhone, then it should do the trick.
Thanks guys, I had already looked at the link above previously but didnt fix it. Let's hope my mobile internet works tomorrow! (Amaysim have told me if I dont change it by tomorrow then my internet will no longer work)
You might have to use the iPhone Configuration Utility, as described in that article, to update your APN settings.
