iMovie crashes

I just bought a brand new iMac - with 16 GB RAM - and iMovie crashes all the time! I think that Apple have a serious problem with that! It's impossible to work with. A disaster - what can I do? Apple have great products - but the support ...!!!

Sometimes iMovie Projects become corrupted and can cause iMovie to crash. This is what worked for me after months of frustration without any solution.

  1. Copy the iMovie Projects folder to the desktop. To avoid confusion rename this folder Desktop iMovie Projects. Do not delete these projects from the Desktop iMovie Projects folder.
  2. Then delete all projects from the original iMovie Projects folder for iMovie - found Mac HD > Users > (Your home folder) > Movies > iMovie Projects.
  3. Either create a simple test movie project in iMovie or...
  4. or take, from Desktop iMovie Projects folder, one of the projects that you know was successfully exported in the past and copy from the Desktop iMovie Projects folder into the original iMovie Projects folder.
  5. Try launching iMovie again.
  6. In turn take, from Desktop iMovie Projects folder, another of the projects and copy from the Desktop iMovie Projects folder into the original iMovie Projects folder.
  7. In transferring one project at a time you can isolate the corrupted project(s)

Same here

I just bought a MBP 13 on Feb 15 and Safari crashed few times already. Then last night without any system load, I had iMovie open then I got distracted and was moving some files around. iMovie was only running, I hadn't even opened any projects or anything. It just suddenly crashed.

This is my FIRST Mac and I was very excited about switching but I'm very sad about this because even my Windows Dell didn't make apps crash when I wasn't even working on them.

Computers are my work tools and I am an expert user but so far Safari, iMovie, App Store and another Apple app crashed. Safari crashed a few times. Also Yahoo Messnger crashes a lot. And they just disappear without any error messages popping up afterwards.

Plus overall speed of this i5 is not much better than my old Dell i3.

Do I have bad RAM (4GB) or something? Please help, cause I expected much much better performance from OS X
