Well I got a GoPro HD2 for christmas and ive been trying to edit videos. every time I drop it into the time line the message "The video properties of this clip are not recognized" shows up. Its really frustrating because every time I make a video it doesnt look like it should and I feel like its loosing quality. Please help!!

You probably should convert it to ProRes before you import. I suggest you use MPEG Streamclip to export it. That should fix it.
Well i downloaded streamclip but what do you mean by "ProRes" ? im kinda new to this video stuff, but i am familiar with files like .mpeg4 and what not.

Apple ProRes is the compressor you use to convert your media. The Streamclip help is quite helpful.
This may or may not work...
Right click on the video icon...
From the drop down menu select 'Encode Selected Video File'...
From the pop-up widow 'Settings...Apple ProRes...Continue...
Video will encode to ProRes.
The streamclip help isnt helping at all. it tells me what apple prores is but it doesnt show me how to convert the mpg4 file into prores.It only gives me the option to Export the files into...

and i think i found out what the problem is. I was recording at 960p 48 fps and it wasnt working. i just did a test and recorded it at 1080p 30fps and it works fine. i guess fcpx just doesnt accept 960p
You convert to QuickTime. All video in FCP is in QuickTime.
48fps is a completely non-standard frame rate. Yet another manufacturer just cobbling together garbage video in whatever firm they feel it or works with their equipment, rather than make equipment that conforms and produces video in internationally agreed standards.
You can make project settings in FCP that ate 960p. It's an anamorphic format used by Panasonic's DVCPRO HD.
