If Find My iPod needs a Wifi connection to work, how will it be able to be locked/wiped/tracked if it doesn't have a internet connection. And iPods don't automatically connect to wifi connections. Whats the point of it.

My iPod was stolen and I'm thinking about all these stuff.

You can't do anything to it if it doesn't have connection. If the thief connects it to Wi-Fi, then you can lock/wipe/track it. Otherwise, get a new one and move on.

    Sorry about the loss...

This is meant for devices which are on network (wifi or GPS/3G). If the device is stolen and wiped, or is out of internet access range (wifi or 3G), then there is no phone in the world to find. Not only iPhone or Touch...

It is a great service for situations when you forget your Touch in the car or at your friends house. As long as it has Wifi and battery charge and the Find feature is turned on, you should find it.

Thieves obviously know all this, so wiping it is the first thing, they'd do.....

Yes it needs a wi-fi connection, so it isn't terribly useful except if it gets lost in your house or someplace else (work/school) where it is set to connect to wi-fi.

Well the upside (if there is any)
It was stolen at my school, and it automatically connects to the schools wifi because I have it saved.

Hopefully they're dumb enough to bring it back to the crime scene

I'm not sure what question you are asking, but yes, if you send a sound or a message, or remotely lock or wipe it, the action will be performed the next time it has an Internet connection. I don't know how else you would expect it to work.

Due to this feature, the creep who stole your iPod Touch will be in possession of a completely useless device.
