What happen to sound check within iTunes Match?

I have been noticing that sound check doesn't work within ITunes Match. Any one else notice this too? If so, are there any solutions?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

I'm with mracole. The sound check feature works fine in my local iTunes library. However I suspect you mean it is not working on your iPhone, correct? If you are listening to "matched" songs on your iDevice, then those songs come directly from the iTunes Store and would not have your sound check adjustments applied. So this actually makes sense. To my knowledge there the only way to apply sound check adjustments is directly on the iPhone. Go to Settings > Music and set Sound Check to ON if you have not already done so.

I have a similar problem to Nickcalifornia. I've been using mp3gain to normalize the volume of my tracks across the board for years, but match is throwing a wrench in the equation.

Michael Allbritton: Extended tags could work if iTunes Match saved each users meta data seperately, even for matched songs. However, that's opening up a can of worms I'm sure Apple won't touch.

However, even with Sound Check turned on everywhere, I'm still getting volume jumps between tracks. I'm not familliar enough with Sound Check to know if it's detection is really that bad or if Sound Check is failing entirely.

I have noticed this too. I have albums that I've uploaded that are from the 80s and recorded lower than new albums. They play fine with sound check in iTunes, but the same tracks aren't matched volumewise in my iPhone and iPad. I find this very annoying as I listen to music all night and I'll have one song quiet so I turn the volume up and then the next track is blasted in comparison to the previous. I'm too the point where I'm going to dump iTunes Match and go back to syncing with the comp if this problem isn't addressed soon. Btw I don't use a third party app at all and never have. This is something that they have changed since match was started.
