Feb 11, 2012 6:03 AM in response to 40pipsby MrHoffman,If the system is under warranty coverage, ring up Apple support and see what they have to say about this.
Make sure your Mac meets the minimal technical requirements for Lion 10.7 Mac OS X or Lion Server 10.7 Mac OS X Server; that the box has a 64-bit processor, etc.
Make a full backup of your boot disk, by booting and using your installation DVD, the Utilities menu and Disk Utility, and an external storage device.
Disable any add-on security tools that might have been installed here.
Trash the existing installer download, and empty the trash.
See if there's anything interesting and relevant to this Mac App Store error sequence in your system log files, using Console.app tool. (Console.app is located in the Applications > Utilities folder.)
For what information Apple has available here, see Troubleshooting Mac App Store issues (TS3624), and other articles referenced there.
Then (if nothing is obvious in the error log or from previous information, and after you have a backup of your disk) download and reinstall the Mac OS X combo update (or the Mac OS X Server combo update, if that's what you're running) for 10.6.8, and reapply it, and then update any other tools before attempting the download. Specifically download and use the combo update here, and not the delta update.
