Why is my Gear 4 remote not working?

I got a Gear 4 speakers system for Christmas, I don't know the model or anything but I Googled it and it must be this exact one: http://www.gear4.com/product/_/17/houseparty-5/

I put the iPod in and it used to immediately start playing. The remote also used to be able to play, pause, skip forward and backward, turn off etc.

Now it can suddenly only turn the speakers on and off - it can't play, pause, skip forward nor backward.

I don't understand, it's not the battery because it still turns the speakers on and off. It just can't affect the iPod in any way.

I'm not sure that I understand what you're asking but I wouldn't expect a remote for the speakers to be able to control the iPod.

Well control the iPod as in play/pause/skip forward/skip backward - the buttons are on the remote and they've worked before, but now they don't.

Now all of a sudden, the only thing I can do with the remote is turn the actual speaker system on and off.

So why is this? I've written my questions as clear as I can!

I can't help because I wouldn't expect a remote for the speakers to be able to control the iPod.

I don't understand... pretty much every iPod speaker system has a remote that comes with it?

I just Googled for ipod speakers and after opening several random links, none of them DIDN'T have a remote.

Anyway, still looking for help. This has happened before but started to work again, however it hasn't been working this time for a while now. Really odd.

Hi,

My Gear 4 remote stopped working because when I did the last Ipod update it eliminated Ipod compatibility with any Gear system. I've had this confirmed by another discussion in this forum. Gear can't help and I'm trying to get phone support to find out what to do, as now my month old system is useless. Have you had same experience or figured how to get it working again.
