I have bought the iPad camera connection kit but when I plug my Canon350D into the USB port the message is "the device is not supported". Can I fix this or will I be unable to transfer the photos using this connector?

I haven't got a 350D, but on a 20D I had to change the camera's communication setting from 'Normal' to 'PTP' . Check what value Communication is set to on your camera, PRINT/PTP or PC connection - it should be on the last of the five setting 'headings' on the camera's settings menu

Thank you but as the camera uses a compact flash card the card reader is no use. I would have to carry a separate card reader which really defeats the point of the kit. Thank you so much, however for taking the time to answer so promptly. I got the solution from another response so I am sorted.

I have the same issue in trying to get my 350d to connect with my iPad 4. Does anyone have solution to this problem? I want to be able to transfer photos from the camera to the iPad when I am on holiday.
If your camera isn't being recognised by the kit then check what you've got the Communication setting set to on your camera - it will need to be 'Print/PTP' :
I have found an alternative and much quicker way to transfer photos to my ipad. Having exhausted the Apple route with its connection kit, I stumbled upon a YouTube video showing how you could use an external sd card reader / USB to transfer pictures. I did a quick search on eBay and found a device that would work with the ios7 update. Hey presto it works! (I purchased an sd card and a sd card adapter for my Canon 350d) plus the little sd card reader from eBay ( for quarter of the price ) of Apples connection kit ( which didn't work)
Come on Apple why can suppliers in the Market place produce accessories that work better than your own kit? You are missing an opportunity and frustrating customers no doubt. Could do better !
